Easter Egg Hunts
When we’re shopping for Easter Basket ideas we always have to keep in mind what to have for Easter Egg hunts as well. Our 7 year old still loves Easter Egg Hunts with his younger twin brothers. We tend to have small toys and candy for their Easter eggs and larger things such as art supplies, plush animals, and outdoor toys for the Easter baskets to add in some practical gifts.
Some of the items below will fit in regular Easter Eggs or larger plastic eggs, while others even come in their own Easter eggs!
Wooden Paintable Magnets
Our kids love these, we got them a couple years ago as Easter basket fillers and they’re so much fun!! These wooden magnets can be painted any way your child wants to and then hung on the fridge or wherever there is a magnet. They are also just fun to have around even without using the magnets.
A tip for painting these, have something such as the packaging paper from a recent delivery between the table and what your child is painting to cut down on clean up.
Craft Kits
We love craft kits like this one with all sorts of different types of art supplies! This one is great as it has pipe cleaners, glitter glue, pom poms, googly eyes, and so much more! My own kids love this kit, they joke that it’s like never ending art supplies.
Window Suncatcher Kit
My kids and I worked on these last year and absolutely loved putting them together and seeing them hang on the window! This window suncatcher gemstone kit is fun for kids and parents alike! My twin 5 year olds and 7 year old had fun with these. It was a nice quiet activity for all of us and it furthered their fine motor skills.
Easter Eggs with Modeling Clay
If you’re like me, you like to give your kids something other than candy in their Easter baskets and Easter eggs. Sure, we still give our kids some candy but like to be a bit more creative.
This 24-pack of non-toxic modeling compound Easter eggs are great for in your child’s Easter basket or for a Easter egg hunts.
Building Block Easter Eggs
Our kids love building with Legos and off brand building blocks like these. These Easter eggs are prefilled with small succulents your kids can build after their Easter egg hunt.
Sidewalk Chalk
A great addition to their Easter basket that will last longer than candy is sidewalk chalk! They can use them on the sidewalk or driveway and the whole family can even get involved!
We love getting sidewalk chalk with bright colors to use outdoors when there is warmer weather. You could also include a new swimsuit or sunglasses if you want more items for warmer weather!
Easter Books
New books are always a great addition to your child’s Easter basket. They’re more of a practical item than small toys and they’ll last much longer than candy!
Easter Sunday by the Berenstain Bears is one we love to read. It reminds me of childhood since I grew up reading the Berenstain bears.
Another great Berenstain Bears book is Meet the Easter Bunny. This one is great because it’s an I Can Read book meaning it’s easy enough for kids this age to be able to read!
Honey Bunny Funnybunny is another great new book with an Easter theme that is an early reader book, perfect for kids this age.
If you’re looking for a fun twist on the Easter Bunny you’ll love No Rest for the Easter Beagle, a Peanuts story! This book is so cute and another one that is for younger readers.
Another great book is Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring. This is a neat story about the change in seasons.
Paint by Sticker Book
My kids absolutely LOVE paint by sticker books! My mother-in-law gets them and when the kids come over lets them do some of the designs from her book and my goodness they love it so much! The Paint by Sticker: Easter book is a great one to have in your child’s Easter basket this Easter Sunday. They’ll love working on this activity book!
Board Games
Easter is a great time to introduce more board games to the house!
Our favorite board games for these ages include Trouble, Checkers, Guess Who, and Connect 4.
Fun Candy
No Easter Basket would be complete without a bit of candy, right? We try not to focus the whole basket around candy but we do tend to include chocolate bunnies for our twins, jelly beans for our oldest who can’t have chocolate bunnies, gummy snacks, Skittles, and other sweet treats that our kids like. We typically let them have one piece of candy a day after lunch so it lasts them a long time!
