Twin Bath Differences & Similarities
Bath time with twins isn’t all that different than with a singleton except that there are two slippery babies and more chance of poo getting in the bath!
Most of these items I’d say just get one of, even the bath as in the beginning you’ll likely want to bathe them separately.
Once they get a bit older you may want to have two of the toy organizing scoops if you choose to get them so they can keep their own toys in there.
First, Create an Amazon Baby Registry!
Before you go further, if you haven’t yet, create a baby registry on Amazon first. That way, as you’re going through this post and others, you can easily just add things to your registry that you’d like with the click of a button!
Baby Bathtub
First things first, a baby bathtub is very helpful and will last for years. We used the bathtub that we used with our oldest child, for our twins as well. For our oldest child, who was 2 when the twins were born, we used the removable seat and the twins used the newborn sling. Though the graphic below indicates the seat just needs to be used through month 9, our oldest was wiggly and a little guy so we opted to have him continue to use it.
We gave them all separate baths for safety when they were babies because babies are slippery! We used this bath for our kids until they were 2-3 years old and they started taking baths together.
Baby Shampoo & Body Wash
I did a lot of research when I was pregnant with our first child regarding all of the horrible chemicals that are in a lot of personal care products. Seeing as it was known that Johnson & Johnson had been putting formaldehyde in their baby products for decades, I obviously wouldn’t be using what I used as a baby.
The Honest Co. is what we decided to use for our first baby and continue to use with our twins. It’s nice to have just one bottle for shampoo and body wash! The EWG (Environmental Working Group) gives this duo a 2 which is a lot better than many products. If you get the fragrance-free version, it has a rating of 1, which is even better! (0 is the best on their rating scale).
Baby Bath Towels & Wash Cloths
Baby bath towels with the little hoods are the cutest!!
Don’t forget baby washcloths! They’re great for use in the tub but also for messy faces and hands after eating or playing.
Faucet Protector
Babies are slippery and sometimes flail around in the tub, especially as they get older. It’s important to have a faucet protector on the faucet so baby doesn’t hit his head and get hurt on it. We have this one and love it. It doesn’t need to be removed when you fill the tub, the faucet works normally, this just pads it. We just leave it on and all times.
Bath Toys
Bath toys can be so fun but also need to be safe. The squirty toys many of us grew up with were fun, but we need to remember that they also collect mold. We were aware of that and still ended up with some issues of mold in squirty toys so ended up getting rid of all of them. Here are some bath toys that won’t end up moldy.
Floating Bath Toys
These bath toys are really fun as they float and don’t gather water inside of them. Though they don’t get water inside, the turtle, penguin, and shapes are free-floating so they move around while they’re in the tub.
Interactive Water Toy
Our twins love taking turns filling up big cups of water and then pouring them into this toy to see the water flow out and the spinner spin around.
Stacking Cups
These are so simple but loved by my kids. There are different sizes that stack into each other and they also have different shaped holes on the bottom that the water can drain through. They are fun, educational (work on naming colors), and able to be stacked up and stored in small spaces.
Bath Toy Storage
If your tub doesn’t offer a lot of storage around the outside of it, there are many options for bath toy storage.
LARGE Mesh Toy Organizer
This one is HUGE which can be great but also keep in mind that if the toys you want them to use suction cup onto the side of the tub, ensure you still have enough wall space for those to be useable.
Smaller Toy Storage
This toy storage is about half the size of the one above and might be more usable, depending on what you want your kids to be playing with and how much wall space you have available in the bathtub.
Scoop & Drain Bath Toy Storage
The Scoop & Drain Bath Toy Storage is great for younger kids as it’ll be easier for you to just scoop up all of the toys when they’re done AND easier for you to just dump them all in when it’s playtime.
